As
a performer in the marching community Josh started his involvement in the
Drum Corps Activity with the Blackwatch Drum & Bugle Corps in 1984. He also
was a member of the Bayonne Bridgemen in 1985 & 1987, as well as the
Crossmen in 1986 & 1990. As an instructor, he has participated in the past
as a consultant for Hatboro Horsham and Garnet Valley High Schools both
located in Pennsylvania
Josh attended
the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music (A Division of the New School
for Social Research) New York, New York, from 1989 until 1991. During that
time his studies included private drumming instruction with Bernard Purdie
and Keith Copeland. Other faculty that he studied with at the school
included Cecil Bridgewater (Trumpet), Armen Donelian (Piano), Reggie Workman
(Bass), Rory Stuart (Guitar), and Arnie Lawrence (Saxophone).
From 1992
through 1997 Josh was involved playing in various local bands up and up and
down the northeast. In 1997, Josh permanently joined the local rock group
Isle of Q. In 1999, Isle of Q signed a recording contract
with Universal Records, a Division of the Universal Music Group. In the fall
of 1999 Isle of Q recorded their debut album at Compass Point
Studios, Nassau, Bahamas with producer Terry Manning (Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top,
Lenny Kravitz). The album was released in July 2000 and sales amounted to
over 100,000 units nationwide within a 15 month period. The band performed
throughout 2000 and 2001, and toured extensively with Nickleback, Fuel, 3
Doors Down, The Cult, and Tesla. Josh was personally responsible for the
creation and formation of the Band’s Limited Liability Company Isle of Q,
L.L.C. A separate publishing and touring entity were also formed under the
umbrella of the band’s Limited Liability Company. |
