Mr. Dirkes is a graduate of Triton Regional High School. In 2006, he
graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rowan University with a B.A. in History
focusing his senior studies on the cult phenomenon of the 1960’s and 70’s
with specific regard to Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple. Currently, Mr.
Dirkes is studying under the tutelage of Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg for his
second degree in Music Education.
Before coming to West Deptford in 2003,
Mr. Dirkes taught at his Alma Matter, Triton Regional High School. In 2005,
Mr. Dirkes took over the responsibilities as drill designer for the Marching
Eagle Band. During his tenure at West Deptford, Mr. Dirkes has been
fortunate enough to study under incredibly accomplished and nationally
recognized musicians including Phantom Regiment arranger and Boston Brass
member, J.D. Shaw, renowned tubists Sam Pilafian and Pat Sheridan, and drum
corps legend Freddie Martin. Mr. Dirkes has taken the knowledge and
experience of these extraordinary performers and brought it back to the West
Deptford music program in an effort to perpetuate our continual growth. |
