2004 WEST DEPTFORD MARCHING BAND
Program Title: Masters of Melody Drum Major: Megan Edwards Musicians: 54 Color Guard: 18 Repertoire:
Show Description (8/04) "Masters Of Melody" "Masters Of Melody" is sure to be one of the most memorable and enjoyable productions put on the marching band field in 2004. We are going to take our audiences through several classic excerpts of melodic masterpieces. Our 2004 program opens up with Edvard Grieg's beautiful melody - "Morning." Featuring several sections of the band, this will be our wake-up call bringing the lush, floating sounds of the morning to our field. Next we crank up the tempo and intensity. We will be utilizing the music of Georges Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2 to set things in high gear. We will be in high production mode as we weave through Bizet's "Farandole". We are going to slow things down a bit with Giacomo Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro." This is a masterpiece of melodic beauty taken from the opera Gianni Schicchi. Our final piece to our melodic tapestry comes from Tchaikovsky. "Marche Slav" is a standard piece in the orchestral repertoire. Its known for its simple but highly intriguing themes. Power, strength, fury, and might all describe this piece.
