West Deptford Marching Band Educational Staff Profile

Mr. Eric Sikorski
Assistant Director & Brass Staff

ON STAFF SINCE: 2002

Mr. Sikorski is a graduate of Triton Regional High School, where he was brass section leader and assistant drum major.  He graduated Cum Laude from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.  He has been fortunate to study trumpet with a variety of professors: Mr. John Thyhsen of the Philly Pops, Dr. Thomas Hoyt, a prominent Broadway musician and NYC freelancer, and Dr. Bryan Appleby-Winberg, an active freelancer in the Philadelphia area and co-principle trumpet of the Atlantic Brass Band.

While at Rowan University, Mr. Sikorski was a member of the concert band (principle trumpet), wind ensemble, chamber orchestra, jazz band, trumpet ensemble and brass ensemble.  Additionally, he spent two seasons playing cornet with the Atlantic Brass Band. He has also studied conducting under Dr. John Pastin, former director of the US Navy band.  While at Rowan, Mr. Sikorski was an active member of MENC, serving as vice-president in his final year.

Currently, Mr. Sikorski teaches music at Landis Intermediate School in Vineland.  He is the instrumental music director, and also teaches sixth grade general music class.  During his first year at Landis, the music program tripled in size! He has already become an active member of the school, having created a beginning band and helping develop the new curricula for instrumental and classroom music.

Mr. Sikorski is an active private brass instructor, with a studio of over ten students.  Many of his private students have been selected to local and regional honors bands, including numerous students being selected for first-chair on their respective instrument.

When he is not involved in a musical endeavor, Mr. Sikorski enjoys spending time at home with his wife Jennifer and his two cats, Alex and Chloe.  He also enjoys playing Guitar Hero II on his Xbox 360 and watching the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. Mr. Sikorski is currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Educational Administration.
