Mrs. Sikorski is a graduate of Palmyra High School where she was the drum
major of the marching band. She graduated from Rowan University in 2004 with
a Bachelor of Music in Music Education.
While at Rowan, Mrs. Sikorski was a member
of the Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and Concert Band, as well as the
flute and clarinet ensembles. She studied flute with Adeline Tomasone,, who
is currently principal flutist of the Philadelphia Opera Company and oboe
with Mr. Terrence Belzer, a prominent freelance oboist in the Philadelphia
area. Mrs. Sikorski also studied conducting under Dr. John Pastin, former
conductor of the US Navy Band.
Mrs. Sikorski is currently teaching at John
Brainerd Elementary School in Mount Holly, where she teaches K- 4 general
music. During her first year she helped to revitalize an instrumental music
program in the district’s elementary schools and presently has more than 80%
of the fourth grade class signed up for instrumental lessons. Mrs. Sikorski
recently finished working on a committee who designed a new middle school
music curriculum for the Mount Holly Twp. School District. Before teaching
at John Brainerd, Mrs. Sikorski spent two years teaching general music to
grades K-8 at Sacred Heart School also in Mount Holly. While there, she was
fortunate enough to contribute her expertise to a new Fine and Performing
Arts curriculum for the Diocese of Trenton.
Mrs. Sikorski has been an active private
music instructor, specializing in developing early-childhood musical
abilities. She also teaches private lessons on all woodwind instruments
having had numerous students selected to various honors bands throughout the
state.
In her free time, Mrs. Sikorski enjoys
spending time with her husband, Eric, watching the Phillies and Eagles, and
shopping! She also loves spending time with her family and close friends
and her two Godson’s Oliver and Chet. Mrs. Sikorski is currently working on
her Masters of Education in Educational Administration. |
