WDMB Update 9-2-2024

Summer may be over but the WDMB is just heating up. We are only at the beginning of our journey and the best is yet to come. We’ve had a great summer building a great foundation for us to work from.

ATTENDANCE – 100% is expected
As the school year begins, it will be very important for all our members to budget their time appropriately. Everyone is going to have much longer days once school starts. We assure you that everything can be done. We know this because it’s been done year after year. We have had many students with full AP schedules, valedictorians/top of their class students, and students with various other responsibilities in our band.

Homework and studying for tests are not reasons to miss rehearsals. If you budget time appropriately, students can get it all done. Should anyone have an issue, please reach out and contact Mr. Kershaw. We have had students of all backgrounds and abilities in our program, and we can offer solutions to help. Our staff want to partner with families to help students learn to manage their commitments.

Additionally, we ask parents to not use band rehearsals as a punishment. The WDHS band is a group activity. It works best when we are all together. Please contact anyone on the staff if help is needed. Often, we can help motivate outcomes without impacting the entire organization. We have limited time to achieve our goals, and everyone is an important part of our planned success. Thank you.

We have an away football game at Pennsville HS.
We will be wearing our alternative uniform (same as Memorial Day):

Musicians Alternate Uniform

• Uniform Shirt - Purchased
• Uniform Cap - Provided
• Solid Black Pants (w/belt loops & belt)
• Solid Black Band Shoes & Black Socks

Color Guard Alternate Uniform

• Uniform Shirt - Provided
• Solid Black Shorts (w/belt loops & respectable length – No short-shorts or cut-offs!!!)
• Solid White Shoes/Sneakers.
• White Socks

SATURDAY 9-14 REHEARSAL DAY
As we begin to prepare for competition, rehearsal was added to Saturday, 9/14. 

HELP NEEDED! We are in need of parents willing to help us with uniform fittings @5pm on 9/11 & 9/12. Most uniforms are in need of only minor adjustments. We may have a little work to iron and possibly hem when needed. Thank you.
