Our first competition of the season is in the books and the WDMB is currently on top of Group II, Open Class!  We are truly pleased with this weeks results and we aren't done the show yet!  This week we will be preforming the full program and we should really blast off!  Thank you to everyone who went to Collingswood to support us.  Your cheers are our fuel and energy.  Keep them coming!

This week's list of thank yous...

• Thank you to all of our pit parents who helped us get to and from everywhere we needed to be.  We had some challenges at Collingswood in the dark but our parents really stepped up and lit the way.
• Thank you to the parents who send in snacks for the kids.  The brownie/cookies and the smores cookies were BIG hits.
• Thank you to WDMB Alumni Dad, Rich Glass for building a custom rig to hold the bell set on the percussion rack.  Amazing talent!  

This week we need to get to work.  WD is on top, but the competition is tight.  We will be working hard this week to get the finale of the show primed and ready.  We will once again have an altered rehearsal schedule due to this week's football bye week.  Rehearsals will be Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.

Saturday we will be traveling up to Brick Memorial High School and we are heading into serious competition.  We will be competing with 5 other Group II Open bands!  Tickets are available from Mr. Kershaw.  All tickets are $10 from Mr. Kershaw, $12 at the gate.  Its about an hour and 15 minute drive.  We promise it will be worth the trip!

Sunday we will be traveling up to North Jersey to Madison HS.  We always like to travel to the other end of our state at least once a season to see our North Jersey competitors. They always treat us Southerners well and we look forward to performing on artificial turf!  Tickets will be available once we receive them.  The drive is long, about an hour and 45 minutes.

Here we go!  Its competition time!  This week we will be preparing for our first competition of the season.  We will be working hard to get our 2016 production, "The New World" show ready.

Band Pictures: This week we will be having band pictures done.  Both group & individual pictures will be taken and available to order.  All members will need to have their full uniforms with them this Friday.  Pictures begin at 4pm, prior to rehearsal.  Photo order forms are available in the front of the band room and will also be distributed Tuesday night at rehearsal.

2016 Tour Shirt Orders:  Orders for this year's "The New World" tour shirt are due this Friday, 9/23.  Order forms are in the front of the band room.

Color Guard Shoes will be ordered this week. Shoes are $30.  Please forward your shoe payment to Mr. Kershaw.  Please make checks out to “West Deptford High School”

Football this week:  The WD football team is traveling to Overbrook HS this upcoming Saturday morning.  Due to very early call time the game would have created and the late performance time at our first competition, we will not be attending the football game.  If we did both, our day would have begun at 8am and ended at 11:30pm.  

Competition!!!  OK, here we go!!!  First show is this weekend at Collingswood HS.  This is about a 15 minute drive from WDHS.  This show is bery close and we hope to fill the stands with WD supporters! We will be competing against 5 other Group II, Open Class bands.  WD Performs at 9:00pm.  Be sure to make some noise for the WDMB!

Competition Tickets!  Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for Students/Seniors.  Only adult tickets are available from Mr. Kershaw.  Students/Seniors tickets are available at the gate at the show.  Be sure to purchase your adult tickets from Mr. Kershaw. We keep the proceeds from the adult tickets we sell.  Only cash is accepted for ticket sales.

What a great start to our season!  It was very hot, but everyone came through and did an amazing job.

• 1st public field show performance
• 1st home game concessions

Thank you to all of the parents who came out in force to work the concession stand.  It was a busy home opening game, and it was handled very well.  Thank you!

This week we will be working on the final part of our field show.  We will be adding in the guard work, wind music and percussion music!  Its going to be a busy/exciting rehearsal week and attendance is (as always) mandatory.

This week we have one performance.  We are traveling to Willingboro HS for the very first time for football.  Since we are the traveling team, we will be performing pregame (@6:40pm)  We will again be wearing our alternate uniform.

Our full uniform for musicians will be issued out this Wednesday after rehearsal.
