It was another great week of growth and strength, and the 2023 WDMB moves closer to competition. We were disappointed that we did not get a chance to debut our show at the Washington Twp. show this past weekend, but we are looking ahead to this week’s show at Gateway Regional where we know we are going to rock the stadium.

Senior Recognition - Congratulation to all of our senior members and their parents who were recognized at this past Friday's football game. Our seniors have shown tremendous leadership and dedication to our program. We thank all of you for being the backbone of our program.

    Concession Stand - Another home football game and the WD band parents easily kept up with the crowds. Its amazing how our parents work together to make this all work.
    Props - Our parents who have been building our props have been putting in so many hours building, painting, and making sure we are prepared. These gear props look amazing.
     Pit Crew - Thank you to the volunteer band parents who help us get on and off the field for each performance. We could still use some more help. Please reach out if you can help. You will have the best seat in the house!

Away Football – This Friday the WDMB will be traveling to Haddonfield Memorial HS for this week’s varsity football game. The WDMB will be performing the field show before the game. We will need help with moving equipment and props.

Competition - This week we are heading into competition at Gateway Regional. Times have been revised! This will be our closest show from WD so let’s get as many people in the stands as possible. We will see some of our major competitors at this event and your cheers will help us!

Competition Tickets -  Tickets will be available (still waiting to receive them) Only adult tickets are available from Mr. Kershaw.  Students/Seniors tickets are available at the gate at the show.  Be sure to purchase your adult tickets from Mr. Kershaw. We keep the proceeds from the adult tickets we sell.  Only cash is accepted for all ticket sales.

Donations Needed - We are looking for donations of hand towels and large heavy blankets. These are used to wipe, cover, and protect our props and instruments in damp weather. Thank you!

The WDMB had a great opening performance at our home opening football game. Our new uniforms look very shiny and fresh. Our band parents rocked a very busy concession stand. Here we go; it’s showtime!

This week we are heading into our first competition at Washington Twp. High School. We are very excited to get our first numbers of the season and see where we stand. Everyone is working very hard towards making “The Machine” a hit.

This upcoming Friday is Senior Appreciation Night at the game. We are very excited to have our 12 senior members and their parents recognized by our school. We know what dedication it takes to see your band commitments to the end. These seniors have endured many recent challenges, and we appreciate their dedication.

TOUR SHIRTS
Tour shirt orders are due this upcoming Saturday. This year’s shirts will once again feature artwork by one of our very own band parents, Mr. Anthony Parisi. Mr. Parisi is a professional graphic artist and we want to thank him for lending his time and talents to our program.

FOOTBALL THIS WEEK
The WD football team is home against local rival Paulsboro this upcoming Friday.  Kickoff is 7pm. The WDMB will be performing at halftime. HELP NEEDED! => Our pit crew can use a few extra hands to help the band move on and off the field. Please consider helping us by coming out to the game. See John Phillips at the concession stand area.
 
COMPETITION
OK, here we go!!!  First competition is this weekend!.  The show site is local from WDHS.  We hope to fill the stands with WDMB supporters!  We are the only Group II, Open Class band at the show.  WD Performs at 6:30pm.  Be sure to come out and make some noise as we “gear up” for our 1st competition of the season.

THE MACHINE IS COMING!

This past week the WDMB had great rehearsals. We had our first rehearsal with 100% attendance! Let’s keep that going! WE finished learning the finale to our show. everything is coming together very nicely.

This week we have a few items that will prepare us for this week’s debut performance.

UNIFORMS
This past weekend we were able to get every fit for their jackets. This Wednesday we will get everyone fitted in their pants. Wee asking all musicians to arrive at 5pm for fitting, rehearsal will follow.

Color uniforms are expected to arrive very soon. These are custom made. We took everyone’s measurements in the summer, so we expect a perfect fit when they arrive. Once we see the uniforms, we will decide on the shoes for the color guard.

THIS WEEK – HELP NEEDED!!!

PROP BUILD - This Wednesday night we can use hands to help with our prop build. If you have the time, please come out. We need to complete these asap to allow the band to rehearse with them. If you can, please come out Wednesday night 6p-9p. Bring any on the following: screw gun, pencils, tape measure, and/or speed square. We will be working assembly line style to knock these amazing props out. THANK YOU!

Concession Stand -  The Concession Stand is the place to be during Friday Night Lights!  Whether you want to help prepare food, work the counter, be the cashier or help clean up, there are lots of ways to help. 
A few important notes about volunteering at the stand:

• The Stand will open on Friday at 5:30 pm for prep. All help is appreciated, even if you can only give an hour.  If all the slots are filled, please come to help.  The number of slots available is the minimum number of people we need to staff the stand.
• Due to health code requirements, anyone working at the stand must wear a hat or a hairnet (hairnets are available in the stand or bring a hat).  Gloves are also required and will be provided.
• We will have a sign in sheet at the door. Please sign in when you arrive! 
• If you are coming to watch the football game and are not working, you may not enter through the stand. You must buy a ticket at the gate. This also goes for children who want to watch the game. Please purchase a ticket for them.
• Due to safety concerns, we cannot have small children in the stand. There are a lot of people there working, there is hot food, and hot drinks where they can get hurt.
