Yesterday was an amazing day for the WDMB. Every band has been on a difficult journey looking to rebound from last year’s shutdown. We are VERY PROUD of our members who have come together with a lot of heart and resilience to obtain this high level of performance. They have earned all of it.

And our journey continues as we prepare for our final competition, the Atlantic Coast Championships! These final two weeks are going to fly by; let's enjoy every minute of it as much as possible.

BAND PICTURES – 10/29
Individual and Group WDMB pictures will be taken this Friday 6p-7p. Students will need their full uniform for pictures. We will change then rehearse immediately following. Picture Order Form: HERE
 
WDMB TRUNK-OR-TREAT – 10/30
This event is not a public event nor is it a fundraising event. It is just to bring some smiles to faces and time to hang out without the pressure of a competition or a rehearsal with our High School Band Students and to build the bridge between the High School Band and Middle School Band stronger.
 
ACC SEND-OFF PERFORMANCE - 11/6
At the conclusion of our ACC rehearsal, we want to present our full program to our family and friends one last time before we head into Harrisburg.  Please come to the stadium @1pm and cheer these kids on! All are invited!
 
ATLANTIC COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS - 11/7
Heading into ACCs, the WDMB is ranked #1 and everyone is pushing hard preparing for the final showdown. We have awesome competitors, and we want to wish everyone the very best and good skills in Harrisburg.

Now that the whirlwind of the weekend has past, we can take a moment to reflect on it.
This past Friday night, the WDMB hosted any interested 7th & 8th grade band members at the football game. Students were placed side-by-side with their HS counterparts for a great evening of musical camaraderie. We want to thank WDMS Band Director Mrs. Graff for taking the time to bring her students to our event. As one WDMS said, “This is the best trip the school ever funded!” That is music to our ears.
 
On Saturday the weather gave us a curveball. While being sunny most of the morning and early afternoon, thunderstorms rolled in by 4pm.  Luckily, the Band Parent Organization and many of the participating bands were flexible which allowed us to postpone the event to Monday evening.
 
On Sunday the WDMB took the show to Deptford HS. The band faced its strongest competition of the year and stood tall. The WDMB took 1st place with a score of 92.95. This was the highest score of the entire event making the WDMB the Deptford TOB Show Grand Champion! This score also catapulted the WDMB back to the rank of #1 in Group II Open Class.
 
On Monday our 47th Annual “Music in Cadence” TOB Show, aka Home Show 2.0. While not all the bands who were originally scheduled to appear were able to reschedule, we are very grateful to the 11 bands who were able to support our show. It is a lot of work to move marching bands school to school and we are glad they came.
 
The entire day was amazing to watch unfold. It is unbelievable the amount of help we had on hand to run the event. THANK YOU. So many band parents, alumni parents, band alumni and friends were on hand to help wherever needed. WD is a very special place, and this kind of support is so appreciated.
Thank you to the WD Band Parents officers. Communication was great throughout as we assessed the weather. The “plan of attack” was clear, and the event ran as smooth as any. Thank you to Mr. Mizner and all the executive board.
 
With the show in full motion, the WDMB took the field and lit it up! It was wonderful to have this event back and provide this opportunity to our students. We love performing at football games, but Home Show is different. Congratulations to the WDMB for rising higher and earning a score of 94.60! This is the highest score of the year in all TOB. Congratulations to all our seniors on your final Home Show; It was a magical night.
 
Attendance – We have had near perfect attendance for over 2 weeks! Thank you! I know we have a very demanding October schedule, but the results are clear. Great Attendance = Great Outcomes.
 
Tour shirts – We do have a few extra tour shirts still available. These are first come, first served. Please do not email me to hold shirts. All shirts are $15.

Personal Note - Thank you for the recognition of my 20 years here at WDHS. Being the director of this band is the joy and passion of my life. I love what we do, and I thank all of you for sharing in the joy with me. WD is a special place and I can't imagine better circumstances with better people!
 
Regional Championships - This upcoming Sunday the WDMB is heading into SJ Region 1 Championships at Eastern Regional HS. Tickets are available at the gate only and are $15 (Adults) & $10 (Students & Senior Citizens). We hope we can get our largest crowd out to cheer on the amazing students. Please spread the word and let’s fill the stands with GREEN AND WHITE! The WDMB is the defending champion and will performs last at 3:30pm. Awards will immediately follow.

​This Sunday the WDMB faced their strongest competition of the season and again came out victorious. We are in good company and are happy to see many bands coming back to life. The WDMB took first place in Group II Open Class with a season high score of 92.95! This score also meant the WDMB was the Grand Champion of the entire event! We are very proud of how far we have come this season.

Tomorrow we have our rescheduled HOME SHOW! We need help in all areas. Please reach out to our band parents officers if you can help.
