What could have been an amazing competitive debut turned out to be windy washout. Steady falling rain kept us from performing at this past Friday’s football game. On Saturday, continuing threats of rain and wind caused TOB show hosts to err on the side of caution and cancel most events. While we are disappointed, we understand the conditions that prompted the response. We hope anyone with families and friends impacted by the hurricane are safe and recover quickly.
While the weekend was quiet, the week leading up to the weekend was not. Here are a couple of important notes of appreciation…
THANK YOU - Mrs. Cathleen Hingley and Mrs. Stephanie Phillips for doing all the hemming of our uniform pants. The band looked great on Friday.
THANK YOU – Mr. Anthony Parisi has created original artwork for our field show. All his work was reveled this past Thursday and everyone was amazed at the product he produced.
THANK YOU – Mr. Phillips and all our band parents and alumni band parents who have been working so hard on our show props. 2022 has been another big build, and they look fantastic. We are very fortunate to have so many handy trades people within our WDMB family.
WELCOME TO BAND-TOBER!
This month is our busiest of the year. We will be committed to remaining on time and on schedule. We fully understand the time commitment is extraordinary and we thank you for your support of these talented kids.
BAND PARENTS MEETING - HOME SHOW!
This week we have our most important band parents meeting of the year. Tonight at 8pm we ask parents to come out for our annual HOME SHOW PREP meeting. Our home competition is a huge undertaking, and we need “all hands-on deck.” 8pm tonight in the WDHS Band Room.
FRIDAY FOOTBALL (A) STERLING HS
This week we have away football at Sterling HS. Due to transportation issues, our color guard will not be attending the game. Band will wear full uniform with band caps to the game.
COMPETITIONS - Sayerville TOB & South Plainfield TOB
This week we have some long hauls this weekend. The TOB schedule has not been friendly this year locally. I apologize for these long-distance events. We know this is a hardship and barrier for families to come out and support their students.

Saturday – This Saturday students will be fed by the band parents before we leave for Sayerville. We have rehearsal then a 90-minute break before we board buses @12:30pm. We perform at 5:55pm. Kids will be back in the stadium to watch the other bands @7pm. Sayerville will have concessions available for everyone at the show. Students are asked to bring $$$ for snacks/food. We will depart at 8pm, before awards.
