Summer is over…but the WDMB is just heating up. We are only at the beginning of our journey and the best is yet to come. We’ve had a great summer building a great foundation for us to work from.
This past weekend the WDMB attended their first football game of the season at Woodbury HS. While we generally prefer home games, it is important that the WDMB supports our WDHS Varsity Football Team whenever we can. We have a strong relationship with the team and coaches, and we know that they appreciate us.
ATTENDANCE – 100% is expected
As the school year begins, it will be very important for all our members to budget their time appropriately. Everyone is going to have much longer days once school starts. We assure you that everything can be done. We know this because it’s been done year after year. We have had many students with full AP schedules, valedictorians/top of their class students, and students with various other responsibilities in our band.
Homework and studying for tests are not reasons to miss rehearsals. If you budget time appropriately, students can get it all done. Should anyone have an issue, please reach out and contact Mr. Kershaw. We have had students of all backgrounds and abilities in our program, and we can offer solutions to help. Our staff want to partner with families to help students learn to manage their commitments.
Additionally, we ask parents to not use band rehearsals as a punishment. The WDHS band is a group activity. It works best when we are all together. Please contact anyone on the staff if help is needed. Often, we can help motivate outcomes without impacting the entire organization. We have limited time to achieve our goals, and everyone is an important part of our planned success. Thank you.

SATURDAY 9-9-2023 REHEARSAL DAY
Due to the change to our competition schedule made 2 weeks ago, rehearsal was added to this upcoming Saturday. We have many things on cue for this rehearsal day including NEW UNIFORM FITTINGS! After our lunch break, we will begin fitting all our musicians into our new uniforms. This is a very exciting time. New uniforms are only purchased every 10 years. We can’t wait to unveil these at our 1st home football game on 9/15.
=> HELP NEEDED! We need parents who can help us with the fittings @1pm. Being that the uniforms are brand new, we may have a little more work to iron and possibly hem when needed. Parent help is essential. Thank you.
